Earlier this month, our team set off for Thailand, mixing work and fun as we attended the AWAsia conference and explored the beautiful country. Here’s a quick recap of our journey:

Starting the Journey

Our trip began bright and early on December 2nd, as we left Mohali with a mix of excitement and curiosity. By the time we reached Amritsar International Airport at 2 PM, the vibe was already set for an unforgettable journey. We completed the formalities, explored the airport, and settled in for our flight, which was scheduled for 4 PM.

For some of us, this was a milestone—our first flight experience, the thrill of travelling internationally, and the luxury of airport lounge services. It was amazing to see the wide-eyed wonder and enthusiasm among the team.

The 5–6 hour flight gave us plenty of time to chat, reflect, and anticipate what was coming. While a few of us felt the time passed slowly, others couldn’t contain their excitement, especially as we neared Bangkok

Landing in Bangkok

Touching down at Bangkok International Airport was a moment of excitement and relief. After navigating through the immigration process, which was smooth and well-organized, we stepped out into the city that would host us for the next few days.

Our hotel greeted us with warm hospitality, and after checking in, we wasted no time. The streets of Bangkok were alive with energy—bright lights, bustling markets, and the aroma of local food stalls. We explored a bit, soaking in the sights and sounds, before settling down for a delicious dinner at a nearby restaurant.

It was a perfect start to our adventure, and by the time we returned to the hotel, we were ready for a good night’s rest, excited for what lay ahead.

December 3rd: A Busy Day

The next day began with a hearty breakfast featuring some familiar flavors—South Indian delicacies that felt like a little slice of home. Refreshed and recharged, we set out to explore Bangkok further before heading to the conference venue.
Collecting our badges and materials for the conference felt like stepping into the heart of the event. The Affiliate First-Timers Meet was a standout experience, giving us the chance to connect with professionals who were as eager and curious as we were. We shared ideas, exchanged stories, and even indulged in some free drinks as we bonded with new acquaintances.

After the meet, we took to the streets again. Bangkok offered so much to explore—vibrant markets, cozy cafes, and street food stalls with endless options. Smoothies were a clear favorite, refreshing and bursting with tropical flavors. Later, we treated ourselves to a relaxing foot massage—a must-have experience in Thailand.

The day ended with a satisfying dinner, leaving us both tired and happy. It was a perfect mix of work and play, setting the tone for the days to come.

December 4th & 5th: AWAsia Conference

The main event! The AWAsia Conference was the highlight of our trip, and it exceeded all our expectations. These two days were packed with insightful sessions, dynamic panel discussions, and countless opportunities to connect with industry professionals.

We started each day by attending keynote sessions delivered by some of the most inspiring leaders in the affiliate marketing world. From learning about upcoming trends to understanding innovative strategies, every talk was a treasure trove of knowledge.

The networking sessions were equally rewarding. We met people from different corners of the globe—fellow marketers, entrepreneurs, and even some of the big names we’ve always admired. Sharing ideas, discussing challenges, and brainstorming solutions gave us a fresh perspective and plenty of takeaways for our work back home.

The exhibition floor was a buzzing hub of activity. We explored the latest tools and technologies, interacted with exhibitors, and got hands-on experience with platforms that are shaping the future of affiliate marketing.

But it wasn’t all work! The conference organizers truly know how to mix business with pleasure. The after-parties in the evenings were nothing short of spectacular. With great music, delicious food, and an electric atmosphere, it was a chance to let our hair down and bond with peers in a relaxed setting.

These two days didn’t just help us grow professionally—they also inspired us to push boundaries and aim for bigger goals. We left the conference feeling energized, brimming with new ideas, and grateful for the incredible experience.

December 6th–9th: Relaxing in Pattaya

After the whirlwind of Bangkok, we packed up and headed to Pattaya—a beautiful coastal city that felt like a slice of paradise. The moment we arrived, the relaxing vibe of the place hit us, and we knew we were in for a treat.

The next few days were a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. We spent mornings strolling along the beaches, taking in the serene views, and soaking up the sun. Afternoons were reserved for exploring the city, enjoying the local cuisine, and discovering unique shopping spots. Evenings were all about enjoying the nightlife—great music, delicious drinks, and the lively energy Pattaya is known for.

For the adrenaline seekers in our group, the adventure was the highlight. We tried parasailing, feeling the rush as we soared above the turquoise waters, and indulged in sea diving, an unforgettable experience of exploring the underwater world. Boating trips added to the thrill, giving us a chance to witness Pattaya’s beauty from a new perspective.
We also indulged in some shopping, hunting for souvenirs and gifts to take back home. Bargaining was an art here, and we thoroughly enjoyed the process!

Whether it was lounging on the beach, savoring a new dish, or simply soaking in the beauty of the city, Pattaya gave us memories we’ll cherish forever.

December 10th: Heading Back Home

All good things must come to an end, and on December 10th, it was time to head back. With our bags full of souvenirs and our minds full of ideas, we boarded our flight home, feeling refreshed and inspired.

The trip was more than just a getaway—it was a mix of learning, bonding, and experiencing a new culture. We came back with memories to last a lifetime and ideas to fuel our work in the days to come.

Planning a Trip to Thailand? Here Are Some Essential Tips

1. Documents:

Ensure you have your passport and a valid ID (like Aadhaar) handy at all times. Indian citizens can travel visa-free to Thailand for up to 60 days, making it an easy and convenient destination. However, keep digital and physical copies of your travel documents and hotel bookings for emergencies.

2. Travel Insurance:

Though not mandatory, travel insurance is highly recommended. It provides coverage for unexpected events like medical emergencies, lost baggage, or trip cancellations.

3. Weather & Packing:

Thailand in December boasts pleasant weather—perfect for exploring. Pack light and breathable clothing, as there’s no need for winter wear. Don’t forget comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and a light raincoat or umbrella in case of sudden showers.

4. Currency:

The local currency is Thai Baht (THB). While credit and debit cards are widely accepted in urban areas, it’s good to carry some cash for street vendors and smaller establishments. You can exchange currency at airports, banks, or exchange kiosks in the city for competitive rates.

5. Food:

Thailand offers a mix of local and international cuisine. Indian food is widely available, but don’t miss out on authentic Thai dishes like Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, and mango sticky rice. Seafood lovers should try the fresh catch at reputed restaurants. Avoid street food if you have a sensitive stomach, and drink bottled water to stay safe.

6. Transportation:

Public transport is affordable and efficient. Tuk-tuks are a fun way to explore the cities, but always agree on a fare before starting your ride. Alternatively, use ride-hailing apps like Grab for hassle-free travel. For longer distances, consider renting a car or using domestic flights.

7. Politeness & Culture:

Thai people are known for their warm hospitality and politeness. A respectful attitude, a smile, and basic Thai greetings like “Sawadee” (hello) and “Khop Khun” (thank you) will be appreciated. Dress modestly when visiting temples and remove your shoes before entering.

8. Shopping:

Thailand is a shopping paradise, from bustling markets to high-end malls. Whether you’re buying souvenirs, clothes, or electronics, bargaining is expected at markets. However, don’t bargain in malls or stores with fixed prices.

9. Must-Try Experiences:

a. Thai Massages: Known worldwide for their rejuvenating effects, Thai massages are a must-try. Opt for a trusted spa for a professional experience.
b. Nightlife: Experience the vibrant nightlife in cities like Bangkok and Pattaya—rooftop bars, nightclubs, or beach parties offer something for everyone.
c. Tropical Fruits: Indulge in fresh tropical fruits like mangosteens, dragon fruits, and rambutans. Smoothies made from these fruits are refreshing and delicious.
d. Island Tours: Explore the stunning islands like Phuket, Koh Samui, or Phi Phi Islands for pristine beaches and adventure activities.
e. Cultural Attractions: Visit the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and Floating Markets for a glimpse of Thailand’s rich culture and history.

10. Connectivity:

Thailand has excellent internet connectivity. Grab a local SIM card at the airport for cheap and reliable data plans, or rely on Wi-Fi in hotels and cafes.

11. Safety Tips:

a. Be cautious of pickpockets in crowded areas.
b. Avoid using unregistered taxis or accepting offers from touts.
c. Follow local laws and regulations, especially regarding drugs and public behaviour.
d. Respect the King and Royal Family, as any disrespect is a serious offense.

12. Environment:

Thailand values its natural beauty and cleanliness. Dispose of waste properly, and avoid using plastic wherever possible. Some places even charge fines for littering.

13. Festivals & Events:

If you’re travelling in December, check out local events like the Loi Krathong Festival or Christmas celebrations in urban centers.
Thailand offers an incredible mix of culture, adventure, and relaxation. With these tips in mind, your trip is bound to be memorable and hassle-free!
